Timeline

Missionary Preparation Stage: August 2008-May 2009

  • Target a people group and a circle of accountability
  • Develop a holistic understanding of the people group and culture (i.e. communities, neighborhoods, schools, churches, corporations, future developments, etc.)
  • Target missionary team
  • Finalize church branding (i.e. church constitution and covenant, website)
  • Participate in missionary training with South Carolina Baptist Convention, The North American Mission Board, and Crosspoint Clemson.
  • Travel to target area for site tours
  • Meet bi-Monthly with church planting team
  • Develop a church planting budget for Year 1 and a plan to reach it
  • Develop relationships with existing missionaries in the target area.
  • Seek out affiliate relationships with mission sending agencies and missional churches
  • Build missionary prayer team (100 member)

Missionary Transition Stage: June 2009 - August 2009

  • Finalize affiliate relationships for prayer and support.
  • Move team to target area and strategically target certain neighborhoods and communities.
  • Match missionaries with targeted communities.
  • Begin to communicate identity to community.
  • Launch formal website.
  • Seek core group members

Missionary Saturation Phase: September 2009 - January 2010

  • Actively saturated the community with the gospel through bold witness and servant love.
  • Launch missional clusters in neighborhoods
  • Strategically invest time and money is city service organizations to demonstrate love for the city.
  • Plan and implement neighborhood gatherings for the sake of hospitality.
    • Attend city and neighborhood events
    • Meet neighbors
    • Host block parties
  • Develop relationships with key corporations at ICAR
  • Invest in campus ministries at local universities.
  • Solidify incorporation and tax status.
  • Establish jobs in the target area for those working bi-vocationally.
  • Meet monthly with elders from Crosspoint Clemson for the purpose of prayer, encouragement, and accountability.
  • Identify potential meeting locations for corporate gatherings of the church.
  • Begin Sunday services for Renewal.

Missionary Harvest Phase: January 2009 - December 2010

  • Continue community saturation.
  • Begin first public gatherings
  • Establish multiple missionary communities.
  • Train and apprentice new leaders
  • Express love and generosity to the city.
  • Explore foreign mission site
  • Target and train elders
  • Begin intentional church wide discipleship strategy such as a “Study/Serve” model
