Renewal's Response to Haiti

Below is a letter that the elders of Renewal Church sent to our covenant partners this week describing the ways in which we would encourage our people to prayerfully respond to the destruction over the past weeks in Haiti.

 Renewal Covenant Partners,

Update of God's Faithfulness

God's faithfulness was clearly placed on display this Sunday at Renewal Church.  As many of you know we have been meeting with a developing core group for the last twelve weeks praying about establishing a church in Greenville, SC.  Our desire is that Renewal Church would launch on February 7, 2010.  To that end, we have been praying for three specific things over the last several weeks that we feel were necessary in order to advance the mission that we fill God has called us to: 1. people to join with us in the mission, 2.

Temple, Body, Bride

An excellent place for beginning any discussion on the church is with a basic Scriptural understanding of what the church is created to be.  Rather than asking, “What kind of church are you?” a better question might be “what kind of church did God create?”

Three passages from Ephesians give us three different, yet essential, images of the church that serve to develop our understanding of what the church is.

What Kind of Church Are You?

This is the most oft asked question I get when I tell people that we are starting a church and I must be honest, it is a still a bit strange.

Taking The Church on the Road pt. 4

Being raised in a church culture that taught me that the fundamental goal of successful church is to get people to a building on Sunday mornings, I simply did not spend much time thinking about all of the people that will not darken the doors of most evangelical churches on our landscape?  Where are they?  What are they doing?  What does it mean to intentionally seek to find ways to engage them with the message of the gospel without them having to come to our church building first.

Taking the Church on the Road pt. 3

Moving the mission of the gospel forward through the local church means that we must work together will other gospel-centered churches in our city to see to it that our combined efforts help to mobilize missionaries throughout Greenville.

Taking the Church on the Road pt. 2

Incarnating the gospel in a local community starts with intentional effort.  As a leader of a church it must be our desire to teach, train, and provide opportunities for our churches to learn that the mission of God pervades their lives on a regular basis.  It is not simply something you engage in on a weekly basis, but rather an all consuming lifestyle of seeking to model, live, and speak the gospel into the lives of others.

The Growth of the Family and the Furthering of the Gospel

Yes…You heard it right…Sarah and I are pregnant again.  Corrie is two, Avery is 8 months, and we are due again sometime in the spring/summer.

Renewal Church Intimacy With God

In an effort to promote your intimacy with the Lord each week, we are attempting to find unique ways to keep the gospel before our core group.  Each week I am seeking to find new ways to expose you all to some thoughts on how to train your mind to love and think about the gospel.
